Winning the 2025 Demant – Audio Explorers Engineering Case Competition

To challenge ourselves and as fun team project me and some friend decided to compete in the yearly Demant Audio Explorer challenge. The challenge is an engineering case competition, with cases aligning with different domains and areas of study. The winners of each case win a free trip to New York, where they partipate in different workshops, presentation and in collecting hearing aid data used for research.

Our team chose the electrical engineering challenge, which focused on optimizing a neural network to run under with limited memory and processing, similar to what you’d find in devices like headphones or hearing aids.

After weeks of work, collaboration, and plenty of problem-solving, we were thrilled to find out that our solution won the challenge. Attached are the slides showcasing our solution and work to the problem, and the electrical challenge itself.

The prize trip to New York was an unforgettable experience. It was packed with workshops, learning opportunities, fun activities, and amazing food. Even better, we got to meet so many talented and inspiring people, who share a passion for audio technology and engineering innovation.

On top of all that, the trip turned out to be the perfect start to my upcoming move to New York and exchange at NYU. I couldn’t have imagined a better way to kick off this next chapter of my life!
